E9 is eastern Hackney. It is a district of three quite different parts, and the pest problems differ with them.

Homerton and Well Street

Around Homerton High Street, Well Street and Chatham Place the housing is a mix of Victorian terraces and large council estates, with the hospital close by. In the estates, mice and cockroaches move between flats along heating pipes and service ducts, and in the terraces mice travel under floors from house to house. We treat, seal the gaps where pipes pass through walls and floors, and return to check.

South Hackney and Victoria Park

The streets north of Victoria Park have some of Hackney's bigger Victorian houses. Tall trees in the park and in back gardens give squirrels an easy way onto roofs, and they get into lofts through gaps at the eaves. Wasps nest in lofts and under roof tiles in late summer (wasp control).

Hackney Wick

Between the Lea Navigation and the Hertford Union Canal, Hackney Wick's old factories and warehouses have become studios, workshops, bars and flats, with new blocks beside them. Water on two sides, moorings and night-time food trade mean rats are a constant risk. Pigeons roost on the roofs and ledges of the old industrial buildings. In converted buildings, pests use the old timber floors and new service runs to move between units.
