Silverfish
Silverfish are quite common in homes and thrive in dark, humid and damp conditions. They mainly are found in and around kitchen, bathrooms and basements but can survive in most environments.
Their name derives from the silvery blueish shimmer of their bodies and the fish-like movement when crawling.
If an infestation is left untreated then mass numbers can start to cause damage to your wallpaper, books, paintings, pictures and anything containing starch or cellulose.

How we treat silverfish
Silverfish lay eggs all year round and can live for several years, so a few sightings can become a lasting problem if conditions suit them. They need humidity of around 75 to 97%, so our survey looks at ventilation, leaks and damp as well as where the insects are seen. We then apply a safe chemical treatment to the areas where silverfish and firebrats are active, including behind kickboards, under floorboards and around baths and sinks.
