What you are paying for

Dealing with rats properly is more than putting down bait. A rat job with us covers:

• a survey to identify the entry points and where the rats are living;

• rat removal, using safe and up to date methods;

• follow-up visits to check activity and adjust the treatment;

• proofing the gaps they use, where that is part of the job;

• advice to prevent rats coming back.

What affects the price

• How far they have spread. Activity in one outbuilding is a smaller job than rats in the loft, the kitchen and under the floors.

• How they are getting in. Many rats get into buildings through damaged drains and gaps around pipes. If the way in is a broken drain, we tell you, because treatment alone will not stop more rats arriving.

• The number of visits. Rats remember their routes and are wary of anything new in their path, so a treatment can take time to work. Your quote says how many visits are included.

• Home or business. Food businesses, shops and warehouses often choose a contract with regular visits instead of a one-off job.
